Turn Failure To Success!
By Kim Simpson
There is no true 'failure' in life if you play your cards right. We're at that half-way point in the year when some folks start looking back, pondering the New Year Resolutions they made on January 1, and abandoned soon after. The resolutions were probably a laundry list of things that needed to be 'changed'. I like to call them 'sins'. It's that same long tired list that folks make year after year.
Don't get me wrong, these resolutions are all 'good intentions', probably healthy, laudable changes, but changes, nonetheless, that go un-fulfilled. That prompts a feeling of failure. Consider this: when you fail, you can also succeed!
First, if you truly 'tried' - worked hard, gave it your all, and still didn't get the desired result - you didn't 'fail' if you enjoyed the journey and learned your lessons. Imagine not 'trying' at all! A life filled with regret for everything you 'didn't do' is far worse than failures, or partial victories.
Second, failures can be stepping stones to future successes. After a hard fought battle, if you pick yourself up, dust yourself off and walk away, head held high with dignity, you will eventually heal and be ready to fight for a new dream, resolution, goal. Sometimes you have to retreat, lick your wounds, treat introspection as the good friend that it is, and look deep inside for new direction. If you're one of those folks who is staring at a list of so-called 'failed resolutions', maybe it's time to move in a new direction. Instead of drafting a long list of 'sins' - consider pursuing just one dream this summer - something that you would passionately love to learn, see, do, be, achieve, experience, feel, create, change, or have. If you weren't able to tackle 10 resolutions aimed at changing every part of your life all at once on January 1 - why make that mistake again?
This time, try something different. Pick just one dream about which you have great interest and desire. Consider the I Resolve To Formula For Success:
Cherished Dream + Determined Resolution + Daily Goals = Reward and Fulfillment!
Give it some thought. Pull out a pen and notebook and try the Five Step, I Resolve To System For Success. First, if you never have drafted a 'list of dreams', find a nice shady spot in the park, open your mind to all the possibilities and Dare To Dream. Jot down the 10, 20, 50, 100 things that you truly want to do while you are still here on this earth. Open your mind and soar. No holds barred. Even if the dreams seem impossible, write them down anyway. There is no 'impossible dream' if you truly believe in yourself, your abilities, your dream - and if you are willing to make the necessary sacrifices to make your dream a reality!
Next, follow the other four important steps: 1) Pick the one dream that truly inspires you and Decide to 'go for it' with patience, passion and persistence; 2) Define your dream in one specific sentence and turn it into a resolution, a promise that you will make and keep; 3) Do your homework, learn all the many steps that are necessary to succeed, and Develop A Plan made up of short and long range goals; then, 5) Do It Daily, one goal, one day at a time for the rest of the year. Why not give it a shot? It just might be the most important thing that you do in 2007!
Remember: I Resolve To Achieve My New Year Resolutions, One Resolution, One Day At A Time For One Year. It's your choice. Do it today. Turn your resolution into reality.
